What you should know before planning your AV installation...

In Condos, Lofts, newer Apartments & most Condo-Town homes, walls are usually either Drywall & Metal studs or Concrete walls.

Here are some Limitations You May Need to Consider on each Type of Wall

Drywall & Metal Studs

  • Can conceal / fish wires through the wall
  • Can conceal / manage wires on-wall with Wire Raceway
  • Can mount TV on Tilting or Fixed / Slim bracket
  • Heavier TVs cannot be mounted on Articulating bracket
  • Can install new cable jack or power outlet. *Conditional

Concrete Wall

  • Cannot conceal / fish wires through the wall
  • Can conceal / manage wires on-wall with Wire Raceway
  • Can mount TV on Tilting or Fixed / Slim bracket
  • Can mount TV on Articulating bracket. No weight limitation
  • Cannot Install new cable jack or power outlet

Tip: When you knock on drywall & metal studs, you can usually hear the hollowness on most interior walls and it's a deeper pitch tone. But, if it's an exterior wall with drywall & metal studs, there's usually insulation behind the drywall so it may not sound so hollow. Another way to distinguish the difference is, if you happen to have a coaxial cable jack, phone jack or RJ45 Ethernet jack on the same wall where you wish to mount your TV, you can open up the wall plate and you might be able to see through the box to see if there's cavity behind the drywall. Or you can also take a small pin and poke it through the wall and if it goes all the way through, it means it's drywall and metal studs. On the other hand, when you knock on concrete walls, you can hear a higher pitch tone and it will feel very solid when you knock on it. So you need to keep in mind of these limitations & plan your AV installation accordingly.

Wire Concealment Options For Premium Installation Service

In-Wall Wire Concealment

(Not Applicable to Concrete Wall)

Method A

*Note* - You must have a Power Outlet behind the TV to hide the power cord as power cords cannot be fished through the wall.

Vertical wire concealment of low-voltage cables inside the wall within the same stud bay (between the 2 studs, usually 16" apart). Wires can be fished through the wall from behind the TV, straight down through the wall, then exit about a foot above the floor. Click here to find out more about In-Wall Vertical Wire concealment

On-Wall Wire Concealment

(Applicable to both Drywall & Metal Studs & Concrete wall)

Method B

Cables can be neatly concealed (including power cords) with Wire Raceway on the wall. Price Includes up to one 4ft strip of wire raceway and it can hide up to 3 cables depending on the thickness of each cable. If necessary, each additional strip is $15. If you need to run more than 3 cables in a wire raceway, we have different sizes available at additional cost.

FYI: All Wire Raceways that we use are paint-able.

*Note - Wire concealment over fireplace is extra. Please email us some pictures of your fireplace and surrounding wall.

Add Optional Power Outlet Installation

In which situation will I need this?

If any of the following applies to you, then you will need it.

  • If you want to hide the power cord without using Wire Raceway.
  • If you want the power cord hidden out of sight behind your TV.
  • If you want the wire concealment (Method A) but don't have an existing power outlet located up high on the wall where it would end up behind your TV once it's mounted, then you will need to have a power outlet installed behind your TV. Low-voltage wires (HDMI, Optical, Component cables, etc...) can be fished through the wall. However, in order to hide the power cord, it needs to be hidden behind the TV plugged into a power outlet.

$125

We supply & Install "Bridge-Style Power Kit". Recommended solution for most installs especially if you will be using surge protector for your components.

Install a New Electrical Outlet

Starting from

$350

Competitive Pricing on TV Wall Mount Brackets

We highly recommend purchasing the wall mount brackets from us. And here is why

  • We know what what to recommend to you based on the model of your TV and the type of wall you're mounting it on.
  • We hand-pick only high quality products & we test them vigorously before we decide to use them for our customers.
  • Our wall mounts are priced very competitively without compromising the quality.
  • We also carry premium brands such as Sanus.

You will be surprised how oftten we run into situations where customer bought an unsuitable bracket because some sales person at a store recommended them a bracket just based on the size of their TV. But we as installers, know what to look for such as matching VESA mount pattern and also considering your TV's cable input orientation whether facing backwards towards the wall or sideways/downwards. And the weight limitation based on the type of wall you want to install your TV on for safety reasons.

Not all wall mounts are the same even if they look alike. There are differences in the gauge of the steel and the quality of the steel such as cold steel vs hot steel.

Choosing a Bracket based on your Wall

On Drywall & Metal studs: You can install your TV on Tilting or Slim / Fixed bracket safely. *There are weight limitations with Articulating / Full-motion brackets. You cannot install Heavy TVs on drywall & metal studs using articulating bracket.

On Concrete Wall: You can install your TV on any type of bracket; Tilting, Slim / Fixed bracket or Articulating bracket safely.

Tilting or Slim / Low-Profile bracket for most TVs

32" & Smaller TVs - $40 or less

Most Sizes 33" ~ 60" - from $50 each

Larger than 60" -  from $65 each

*For pricing of an articulating bracket / Full-Motion bracket, please send us the Make & Model number of your TV.

If you're not sure what type of wall it is, don't worry, we can provide you with a quote for either situation.
